Sony BMG creates site for rootkit settlement

Having settled the bulk of the claims against it over the rootkit fiasco of 2005, Sony BMG has set up a Web site for those looking to file a claim for damages against the company. The label giant faced a slew of lawsuits in late 2005 over its use of spyware-like copy protection software on CDs by the likes of Neil Diamond and Trey Anastasio. The software automatically installed itself when a user loaded the CD into a computer and created a series of security problems. The label giant agreed last month to several multimillion dollar settlements.
