Rockin’ like Neil
The Coast Bastion Inn turns into Diamondville next week as Neil Diamond takes centre stage.
Not the real Neil, mind you. Parksville’s Douglas Kew in disguise.
Kew brings his Neil Diamond tribute, Solitaire, to the Nanaimo hotel July 17 at 8 p.m. for a dinner show.
The 45-year-old singer has been performing on stage since he was a teen in England and has taken his knack for Neil to several Vancouver Island festivals and dinner theatres over the past year, including the Whiskey Creek Music Festival last week in Coombs.
A pair of Kew’s Solitaire sets had many in the audience 700-plus on its feet, rocking to hits like Cherry, Cherry, Kentucky Woman and Forever in Blue Jeans.
Kew also pulled out Diamond’s love songs like I am I said, Play Me and You Don’t Bring Me Flowers.
His performance includes a dinner buffet. Tickets are $42. Please call 753-6601.
