“Neil Diamond: Hot August Night: NYC” to air Friday at 8pm on CBS

“It was a hot august night and the leaves hanging down and the grass on the ground smelling sweet.” And so begins the start of legendary Neil Diamond’s hit “Brother Love’s Traveling Salvation Show.” The song, and that particular line, was the title of Diamond’s 1972 live groundbreaking pop double album that set standards for how live albums should sound. ”Hot August Night” was recorded during one of the ten sold-out concerts that Diamond performed at Los Angeles’ Greek Theatre.

Now, fans of Diamond can relive the experience on Friday, August 14th, at 8pm on CBS. ”Neil Diamond: Hot August Night: NYC,” an hour long special, will feature segments of four different shows the Grammy Award winning singer and songwriter preformed at Madison Square Garden last summer. Diamond hits such as ”Crunchy Granola Suite,” ”Cherry Cherry,” and ”Sweet Caroline” are surely to be performed, along with footage of Diamond returning to his native Brooklyn neighborhood where he grew up. Old timers and young guns alike can all agree on one thing; Diamonds are forever.
