DIAMOND GIG FOR STADIUM
09:30 – 22 October 2004
Singing legend Neil Diamond is to perform at the KC Stadium next year.
His concert on Sunday, May 22, is another coup for stadium officials, who recently announced top American group REM will play the stadium next July.
Hull is one of only four UK concerts the veteran American singer-songwriter is performing next year as part of a world tour. All the other shows are in the south.
Tickets went on sale today, with stadium staff expecting a huge demand.
KC Stadium marketing manager Rob Smith said: “Attracting an artist of this calibre to Hull is another major coup for the KC. We expect a full house.”
Lord Mayor Councillor of Hull, John Fareham, said: “I am thrilled the city has been able to attract another big name. It will also be an opportunity to attract visitors to the city.”
As Hull is the only confirmed northern show, city tourism officials hope to encourage fans to stay in the city for the whole weekend of the concert.
Tickets went on sale today, priced from £35. Fans can call the ticket hotline on 08700 117900 or visit www.ticketzone.co.uk
Ticket prices range from £35 for restricted view seating in the wings, to £60 in front of the stage.
Mr Smith said: “Ticket sales so far have been phenomenal.”
