  1. Loved hearing Neil...and here's a recipe

That was great! Thanks for sharing.

I went online and looked up the drink Neil and Cousin Brucie were talking about (Fox’s U-Bet Egg Cream Soda).  Here’s the recipe:

    1. Add an inch of Fox’s U-Bet Chocolate Syrup to a glass

    2. Add 2-3 inches of milk

    3. Fill the rest of the glass with seltzer or club soda

    4. Stir/mix rapidly to create a foam top

Sounds a lot like the Cherry Phosphates I drank when I was growing up (except with cherry syrup of course).  Yum!!

  2. Great to hear this birthday interview

Oh wow! Thanks for sharing this.

So good to hear Neil talking again and knowing he’s doing OK.

Hearing that version of Shilo again on ‘radio’ was great also. I always had a feeling it cold have been about a dog. I seem to remember Neil did name a dog Shilo but wonder if that was after the song.

Still, when the girl eventually comes along, Shilo understands.

  3. Neil had a dog named Shilo in the late 1960's

Shilo and Cherry I believe were Neil’s two dogs (He named after his hits)

Neil always said that he wrote “Shilo” about an imaginary friend as a child. As a fantasy type song.So now being about a real dog that he called out to for friendship makes little sense in terms of the lyrics. But songwriters change stories of their songs all the time!
