Neil appears in the first ever, live, in-store performance at the Virgin Megastore, on Sunset Blvd. Hollywood, California. In this rare appearance, Neil performs “Can Anybody Hear Me,” ” No Limit,” “One Good Love,” “Kentucky Woman,” “Cracklin’ Rosie,” and “Cherry, Cherry.”

Neil promotes the “Tennessee Moon” album by going on a world tour, beginning with a four-night engagement at the Sydney Entertainment Centre, visiting New Zealand, Ireland, England, and The United States and Canada, ending in Las Vegas, Nevada with a three night stand at the MGM Grand Gardens Arena.

“Tennessee Moon” album is certified gold.

Neil participates in the WOW! Multimedia Superstore’s Grand Opening event in Long Beach, California. The event is simulcast on the World Wide Web so that patrons in WOW’s Las Vegas store, as well as web surfers, can view the party in real time.

Neil postpones a tentatively planned tour due to a back injury.

Neil begins a world tour, the first leg of which takes Neil across the United States and Canada, promoting “The Movie Album.” Neil kicks off this tour in Ft. Worth, Texas, and ends with two special concerts at The MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.

Neil appears on the Rosie O’Donnell Show. Neil performs “Unchained Melody,” from his newly released album, “As Time Goes By, The Movie Album,” and “Sweet Caroline.”

American Movie Classics Cable airs “The Making of The Movie Album.” This special profiles the process of arranging, conducting and recording Neil’s album, “As Time Goes By, The Movie Album.” Interviews with Elmer Bernstein (conductor) and Alan Lindgren (arranger) are included.

Neil appears on ABC-TV’s “The View.” Neil sings “Unchained Melody,” and “As Time Goes By,” from the album he was promoting, “The Movie Album.” He also leads the studio audience (made up of 100% Diamond fans) in short versions of “Forever in Blue Jeans,” and “Sweet Caroline.” In one segment, two Diamond fans are featured onstage in a Diamond Trivia competition.
