Solitary Person
"I'm a very solitary person. Writing's a solitary profession; you work by yourself mostly, and you don't need to be in touch with a lot of other people. I'm involved in my work. Oh, I have a couple of very good friends out here in Los Angeles that I see sometimes, but I've never been interested in being a member of any social crowd or organization or political group. I'm not political, though I did do a benefit concert for Ted Kennedy last fall because I'm a fan of the Kennedy family. I love their family-mindedness, what they stand for. But that was more a personal thing than a political one.
