Oh dear!!

A couple of the comments following the article are a bit harsh!! Ah well what do they know - ND fans are the best bunch of fans around!!!

Should it ever happen
Posted by Can.Anny 2009-11-11 15:12:32.0

That Neil is inducted, he should then show them the finger. But I know the gentleman he is he would never do that. Also he wouldn't do it for his children and grandchildren.
But thank you Leanne for finding this article which was a nice read. The book is on my wish list for X mas. Could buy it myself but there aren't to many things on my wish list other wise

I am not as eloquent as you Jane but I just did too

I wish I could write as good as you, it's in my head but it just doesn't go down on paper.

Thanks Leanne for posting this. I agree let the voter's decide!! WE KNOW what the results would be!!!

Your 'comment' was perfect and spot on!
Posted by Jane/VA 2009-11-11 17:50:43.0

You touched on things that were said from others, which I hardly ever remember to check on. What you said about Neil's fans not being Grandmas and Grandpas was so true, not to mention the excellent example you gave.

Terrific 'comment', Joni. And, how right you are . . .
Posted by Jane/VA 2009-11-11 17:55:19.0

. . . about the Songwriter's Hall of Fame. Where it matters most to him, I would guess, is the SwHoF and it appears they know exactly what's most important. Good comment.

Compare this fact to Neil's concert draw...
Posted by Deemarsh 2009-11-11 18:18:02.0

Just reading the Philadelphia Inquirer's review of the great Bob Dylan's super concert at Liacouras Center @ Temple University, Philadelphia on Monday nite (11-9-09). Article entitled "A Spirited Dylan on N. Broad." I didn't even bother to try and get tickets because I assumed this icon's concert would be sold out like Neil's are around the world. The reviewer really liked the concert but commented that the arena was little more than half-filled. When did we ever hear of a Neil concert only half-filled? Never! After 40 years, Neil is a much bigger attraction than Dylan who was introduced to the half-empty hall as "the poet laureate of rock and roll." And Neil's not recognized in the RRHOF? Makes no sense!

I love Bob Dylan; too bad he's not filling houses . . .
Posted by Jane/VA 2009-11-11 20:29:30.0

. . . because he is truly one of the greats, in my opinion. The 2 times I've seen him in concert he was terrific. It really doesn't matter about the RRHOF and whether Neil's in it - I don't care one way or another. But, I have no trouble with Dylan being in it, either.

We ought to picket the next induction ceremony.

Get Tom Sage down there. Carry signs. Get media to cover us. That would be a blast. We could have a hell of a party.

Dylan truly belongs.
Posted by fasteddie2 2009-11-11 21:31:37.0

He is a trend setter. I have never seen him in concert but I found his live recordings awful.

Respond to this message

Not based on sales but based on "art" is what they would say.
Posted by fasteddie2 2009-11-11 21:33:15.0

The people keeping Neil out would say commerical success is NOT the deciding factor. It is all "artistic merit."

Respond to this message

So......
Posted by Eydie 2009-11-12 03:58:49.0

...what is Neil lacking in artistic merit?

Every time RRHOF discussions come up here, it ends up making my blood boil.

I like Dylan too, but what a bunch of hogwash.

Yeah, I'm sure Neil would love to see his fans BEGGING on his behalf.
Posted by Jane/VA 2009-11-12 09:50:29.0

Maybe I'm wrong - maybe he would love to see us all down there whining and blathering on for the cameras because they've overlooked him for so long. Who knows?

Respond to this message

It is just a fantasy Jane.
Posted by fasteddie2 2009-11-12 21:43:00.0

I think it would be funny if we all showed up with an ND impersonator raising hell over this. Not that we would ever really do it.

It is FIXED Edyie.

When you see the lesser talents and lesser contributors that are in, it has to be FIXED. That or someone wants a big pay off from Neil.
